A Fantasy Romance

After my daughter expressed she wasn’t interested in reading my Chosen Angel Series because of the lack of romance, I decided I would write a Hallmark-style romance using all of the traditional tropes. I tried. It didn’t happen.

Instead, a fantasy world complete with a Prince and an angel who has forgotten her identity emerged. My female main character, Breeon, finds herself wandering the woods in the winter with no memory of how she got there and only a basic premise of who she is. Coming across a cabin, she goes to the door to find warmth.

Prince Enlin opens the door to see a woman with no shoes or cloak and invites her inside, as any man with manners would do. He has sought the solitude of his cabin to escape from his duties, but when morning comes, his simple act of kindness is discovered by two of his men… and the outcome is a forced betrothal.

Neither Breeon or Prince Enlin are without secrets. The Prince has been avoiding marriage because of a prophecy spoken over him long ago. One that warns his beloved Kingdom will fall if he ever marries. Breeon somehow knows she cannot marry because it is forbidden, but is unable to grasp the why.

As more secrets come to light and prophecy begins to unfold, both will have to face who they really are and what that means for the growing attraction between them.

Full of the clash between good and evil I love, Angel Song was a wonderful delve into creating a new world for me, mixing medieval themes with fantasy, and the appeal of a royal romance. I can tell you the daughter still hasn’t read it… apparently it’s more of a lack of enjoying reading than the actual story in itself… a sad truth, but it’s there if she decides it’s time.

I have plans to revisit the Kingdom I created in Angel Song again in the future. I do so enjoy when a book revisits characters, but spins a whole new story. How about you?
